Survey: USA no longer "promised land" for German tech start-ups

Founders are no longer attracted to the USA

Little bureaucracy and great business opportunities: For a long time, the USA was a popular location for German tech startups. But with Trump 2.0, that changed.

Tech startups in Germany are increasingly distancing themselves from the US. According to a survey of 152 tech startups conducted by the digital industry association Bitkom, 70 percent of founders see the United States under Donald Trump as a risk to the German economy. 87 percent demand that Germany strengthen its digital sovereignty to become more independent from the US. More than a third (35 percent) are currently hesitant to cooperate with US startups or companies.
